How to get your Mic to work "in game"

Guide on Mic Setup

No matter which mic you use, USB or Jack.... theres always confusion on how to set it up, which is usually a multi step process, Windows and Steam settings.

In Windows:
  1. Open your Control Panel
  2. Go to "Sound" (you may need to change the "View by" to "Small Icons")

  3. Click on the "Recording" tab

    1. Red: You have a USB Microphone plugged in, it should show something similar
    2. Orange: You have a 3.5 Jack Microphone plugged in
  4. Green: Right click the appropriate Microphone and choose "Set as Default Communications Device"

  5. Click OK out of all that as we are done with the windows settings.
In Steam:
  1. Open the Friends List (seperate box from steam)
  2. Click on the "Cog" next to your online status

  3. Click on the "Voice" Navigation on the left
  4. Locate the "Voice Input Device"

  5. If your Mic isnt working Change from "Default" to the one that resemble your input device.

  6. Click on the "Start Microphone Test" to make sure its all working.
